While this can’t be used commercially to make rubber, it does mean that it’s a very interesting plant to add to your collection!The large, dark leaves grow steadily upwards and outwards, eventually forming a tree shape if allowed to grow to a very large size. The leaves are very rigid, and new leaves are shiny before turning matte as they mature. In nature, this plant can grow to be up to 200 feet tall!Propagate easily by placing a cutting into water and allow to root.Lighting:Bright indirect to directWater:Drought tolerant but prefers humidity. Water regularly and with consistency, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Mist frequently.Soil/Potting:Plant in a rich, organic soil in a container with a drainage hole and made of slightly porous material like ceramic. Repot annually or when plant exhibits discoloration without the presence of any mis-watering habitsFertilize:Monthly with bacterial inoculant recomended for steady growth and to promote floweringTemperature:Room temp, protect from harsh fluctuations in temperature particularly in the winter.
