(Listing for Plant Only,Shop Pots and Planters)Sharp | Strong | ExuberantAgave ‘Thread” has the classic agave starburst shape, but with a twist! The needles of this variety are thin and delicate looking, lending an interesting contrast to the hardness of the overall shape.Agave are very slow growers and reach about a foot tall and maybe twice that wide, but once they get big enough to flower you’re in for a real treat – the flower of this plant can reach a whopping eight feet tall! This is an evolutionary mechanism that keeps the flowers from predators on the ground below.Propagate easily by cutting off one of the “pups” that forms near the base of the plant and place on water to root.Lighting:Bright direct.Water:Like most succulents, this plant wants to dry out significantly between waterings. Once every two or three weeks should be plenty, and even less often in winter. Agave are very drought tolerant, so when in doubt as a rule of thumb wait another week.Soil/Potting:Plant in a rich, organic soil in a container with a drainage hole and made of slightly porous material like ceramic. Also does well in sandy and slightly acidic soils. Repot annually or when plant exhibits discoloration without the presence of any mis-watering habits.Fertilize:Monthly with bacterial inoculant recomended for steady growth and to promote flowering (which you definitely don’t want to miss out on!)Temperature:Hot or room temp, protect from harsh fluctuations in temperature particularly in the winter. Do not allow to get cold, as the leaves are filled with water. Keep away from vents.Toxicity:Unsafe for consumption by humans or pets, but can be used to make agave sugars if prepared correctly.
